Workshop Quality Manager – Boilermaking, Fabrication & Welding

Responsibilities

  • Prepare inspection files for parts according to drawings, specifications and customer requirements ;
  • Supervise visual, dimensional and documentation inspections ;
  • Prepare welding books and welding procedure specifications (WPS) in collaboration with technical teams ;
  • Monitor welding quality throughout production and at final inspection ;
  • Manage internal, supplier and customer non-conformities ;
  • Define and monitor corrective actions with workshop teams ;
  • Participate in the preparation and monitoring of inspection and test plans ;
  • Ensure material and welding traceability ;
  • Monitor welders’ qualifications and the validity of WPS/DMOS and WPQR/QMOS ;
  • Organize or supervise non-destructive testing (NDT): dye penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic testing and radiographic testing as required ;
  • Prepare quality dossiers: material certificates, inspection reports, NDT reports, dimensional reports and manufacturing records ;
  • Support customer, certification body and third-party audits ;
  • Raise awareness among workshop teams regarding quality requirements and welding best practices

Skills

  • Knowledge of welding processes ;
  • Knowledge of welding defects and acceptance criteria ;
  • Understanding of WPS/DMOS, WPQR/QMOS and welder qualifications ;
  • Knowledge of standards related to welding and steel construction ;
  • Ability to write clear and practical reports ;
  • Strong attention to document control and traceability ;
  • Practical mindset and ability to communicate effectively with welders, team leaders, inspectors and customers ;
  • Knowledge of the following standards would be an advantage: EN 1090 ; ISO 3834 ; EN ISO 9606-1 ; EN ISO 15614 ; EN ISO 5817 ; EN ISO 17637 ;
  • An IWS, IWT, IWE or COFREND VT/PT/MT certification or equivalent experience would also be appreciated

Requirements

  • You have a technical background in boilermaking, welding, steel construction, mechanical engineering, industrial quality, or equivalent hands-on experience ;
  • Ideally, you have significant experience in an environment involving industrial fabrication, welded structures, steelwork, special-purpose machinery, or industrial equipment ;
  • You are comfortable reading technical drawings, performing dimensional inspections, and working with workshop manufacturing requirements ;
  • We are looking for a practical, rigorous, autonomous and well-organized person, capable of enforcing quality requirements without unnecessarily hindering production, comfortable in a workshop environment, and able to quickly identify quality risks and technical deviations
